1940s Los Angeles vs. the East Coast mafia. A battle for the ages. Gangster Squad opens today, and if you haven’t heard enough about it, here’s one last trailer. It’s a tale as old as time – the fertile fields of L.A. beckon the criminal underground and the outgunned police department needs to figure out a way to deal with it. Sean Penn plays legendary gangster Mickey Cohen, who currently rules the town’s underworld, and Nick Nolte as the chief of police puts together a squad of cops to take care of the organized crime problem once and for all. It’s been a while since we’ve seen a truly great gangster movie, so hopefully Gangster Squad will fit the bill.
