In a monumental election yesterday in which we saw President Barack Obama reelected for a second term, in two states across the nation President Obama found his spotlight being shared with the Big Green, the sticky icky, yes folks I’m talking about marijuana. In Colorado Amendment 64 passed, essentially setting a showdown date with the federal government who supersedes state law, however, the passing of the amendment is a milestone for activists everywhere.
Colorado’s Amendment 64 will allow adults over the age of 21 to possess up to one ounce of marijuana, though using the drug in public will still remain illegal. And although this amendement passed not everyone was enthused, including Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper who was quoted as saying “Federal law still says marijuana is an illegal drug, so don’t break out the Cheetos or gold fish too quickly.” In the meantime however, stoners everywhere are rejoicing. So to celebrate I’ve compiled 11 of my favorite smoking songs for you to light up to!
Cypress Hill – Hits from the Bong
Musical Youth – Pass the Dutchie (sunsplash 1983)
Bob Dylan – Everybody Must Get Stoned
