Red Stripe says Volkswagen's Jamaican accent is OK, mon Feb 11th 2013, 17:20 Volkswagen caught flack for their Super Bowl commercial featuring white guys with Jamaican accents. Now the king of the dancehall, Red Stripe, not Beenie Man, has weighed in on the issue. I can’t think of a better judge and jury for this sort of potential infraction. I’d say we let Red Stripe choose whether or not to be offended for all Jamaicans. Not surprisingly, at least not to anyone with a brain and sense of humor, they don’t think it’s a big deal. If the day comes where doing an accent, even a lip dub one, is out of bounds, you might as well just cancel comedy. Here’s the commercial in question, lest you forgot. Respec’ bossman.
